Earlier this month we took part in the Operation Transformation 10 at Ten. We decided to keep this up every Thursday in our classrooms using Go Noodle.
On Thursday the 2nd of March we celebrated World Book Day in our school. We all did something 'booky' in our classrooms. In the Senior Room we enjoyed spending time reading with our book buddies from the junior classes. It was a great opportunity to discuss books and encourage reading in the younger classes.
In fifth and Sixth class we researched our favourite authors and completed the World Book Day top 5 lists on reading. Sixth class also had the opportunity to write a story using Story craft a story writing tool on the web page www.worldbookday.com. Story Craft gives great tips and advice from lots of different authors. The children are encouraged to try Story Craft out at home and email any stories they complete to the school.
In art today the infants and first class were constructing televisions for the future because media is their theme in Aister for the month of March. They used junk materials to construct their televisions for the future.
In the Junior room they have been building houses for the three little pigs. They used spaghetti for the straw house, twigs for the stick house and foam square for the brick house.
In the Junior room they have been very busy making their very own musical instruments. They have recycled old plastic bottles and turned them into something AMAZING!!! They filled the bottles up with pasta and rice to make their own bottle unique. The first class personalised their own spoons and they turned out fantastic! Maybe brideswell will start their own junior
Band?
In the middle room they are learning about Ancient Egypt. They know all about pyramids, scarab beetles and ancient tombs holding curses....IS there a curse coming to Brideswell because there are some scary sarcophaguses spotted recently in the hall of Brideswell N.S. they are calling it the curse of the extra homework!!!!
This week in the senior room we had great fun presenting our ideas to the 'Dragon in the Den.' The competition was very interesting, we learned all about setting up your own business and lots of new business vocabulary. We would like to thank Sheila Fallon from Bank of Ireland for helping the us develop our ideas.
We are preparing our designs for screen printing. This month we are learning all about fabric printing.
